Done in the physical, done in the spiritual.
Spirit: rûach (Hebrew) pneuma (Greek)
body: Sōma (Greek)
-Soul: nephes (Hebrew) psyche (Greek)
- Physical: Body/Flesh
- Soul: Life
- Spirit: Innermost part connected God
Matthew 10:28 and do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both Soul & body in hell.
This chapter is talking about fear. But it is an example of the separation of the body and the soul. Our body can die, our soul does not.
Matthew 15:19- for out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, Sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander
Our hearts lie to us. They tell us our feelings are facts. But anyone who ever had a panic attack knows that feelings are not facts, and even when your mind knows the reality of a situation, your feelings can overtake your mind and cause a physical reaction.
Romans 10:9- because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord & believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved
God Spoke to Jerimich in chapter 1 verse 5 & Said;
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
In Psalm 139 verse 13 David acknowledges that God formed his inward parts; and Knitted him together in his mother's womb. Just like he did for every one of us, but he knew us even before then.
There are so many examples in the bible that show us that the choices we make and physical actions we take not only have physical consequences, they have spiritual consequences, too. We do things in our bodies that directly impact our spirit and soul.
Adam & Eve physically took the fruit from the tree of knowledge and physically ate it. One of the consequences from this action was to be cast out of the Garden of Eden. But few realize that this punishment was also protection. It was meant to prevent them from eating from the tree of life. (That would have forever kept them Separated from being in the presence of God, and their descendants, too. US. Satan would have won!)
No more walks in the Garden with their creator. In fact, after this physical deed, when they heard God walking in the garden, they ran and hid. They continued to hide as he called out for them. They were afraid in their innermost being (their spirit) because their physical action had spiritual consequences. As a result, their souls were troubled and resulted in spiritual separation. They separated themselves from God before their punishment did.
When we listen to our flesh & physically act out the desires that go against God (a.k.a. sin) we then distance ourselves from him. We run & hide, just like Adam & Eve did. First spiritually, then physically, and our souls become troubled. Our minds become troubled.
Romans 109 Tells us that if we confess with our mouth & believe in our heart that Jesus is Lord & God raised him from the dead, we will be saved. Verse 10 says for with the heart one believes and is justified and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. This is one example of a physical action having spiritual consequences, of the good kind. This does not mean the action of speaking is the key to salvation. It is just an example of an action being taken on a choice and belief, that impacts us spiritually.
When we speak in prayer in our physical bodies, it is heard immediately. Daniel 10: 12-Then he said to me," Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand & humbled yourself before God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.
1 John 5:14 and 15 - I write these things to you who believe in the name of the son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
This does not mean that God will grant you every desire because you are a Christian and you ask. What we ask has to be in his will. As we draw closer to him, we begin to desire for his will to be done, not ours.
It is his desire for us to be restored to him, in all ways. We were not created to bear the burden of sin, shame, or guilt. We were created to be in His presence. Jesus made a way for that restoration to happen through his sacrifice and gift of grace. Our acceptance and belief in that allows us to receive the forgiveness that has ALREADY BEEN GIVEN TO US. His Will is for us to be healed from the wounds of this world. He wants it to be well in our soul. We already
have his forgiveness & love. We have the unimaginable gift of grace. Sometimes we just need to physically open our hands to receive it, and say thank you.
Other times we don't have closure on some of those hurts we have collected, or the choices we made or actions we took. We just try to move on because the world said we should. What was done wasn't really bad. What happened to us was normal. Nothing to mourn or grieve. Nothing to let go of, so we just keep those things tucked away and pushed down. Where the ick festers and grows. This ick infects us and affects the way we see ourselves, and the choices we make, which leads to more spiritual consequences.
